Laramie Peak Humane Society is proud to announce the Harry Pawter reading group.  Reading is a fundamental skill needed for every student in Converse County, and sometimes this is a daunting endeavor.  Shelter dogs enjoy the attention of the children and the children enjoy the company of the dogs.  If your child loves to read, enjoys the company of dogs, or your child struggles with reading, we would love for you to come read to the dogs any Thursday @ 4:30 at the shelter.  We'll provide the dogs and the books!  This is a great opportunity to teach your child about volunteering and giving back to the community.  When you arrive, we will have you fill out a liability release form and walk you through the program expectations. You may show up on any Thursday and one of the staff members will get your child set up.  The time commitment is about an hour a session and you can have your child attend once a month or every week.  We started the pilot program last fall and it was a huge success for everyone involved.  We look forward to partnering with the youth of our community.  If you are interested in learning more about how these kinds of programs benefit both your child and our dogs, click here for a great article!
